LATEST LUCIDTALK REVIEWS AS PUBLISHED IN THE BELFAST TELEGRAPH

Just in case you missed them - here are the two latest reviews from LucidTalk as published in the Belfast Telegraph (online) - (a) A review of the demand for polling regarding the NI border following the UK's Referendum decision to leave the European Union - though NI itself voted to remain in the EU, and (b) A review of LucidTalk's own NI EU Referendum polling and how we predicted the NI result to within only a 1% error.

Here are the two articles (just click on the title of the applicable article below):

(a) Polling regarding the NI border.

(b) LucidTalk's accurate EU Referendum polling of NI.

LUCIDTALK NI OPINION PANEL
PRE EU REFERENDUM POLLING - accurate to within 1%

LucidTalk's last pre EU Referendum poll, which was held last week (15th to 17th June - 1,075 NI representative sample), predicted a NI REMAIN victory with that actual poll result forecasting 52% REMAIN to 38% LEAVE with 10% undecideds - as published in the NI SUN newspaper on Monday 20th June. This translated into a final forecast of 57% REMAIN to 43% LEAVE - if we exclude the undecideds (or we assume in the end the undecideds split 50/50 in the actual vote).

The final NI result was 56% Remain, 44% Leave - so LucidTalk, with their last pre EU Referendum poll, forecast the NI result to within 1% of error.

Commenting on their NI EU Referendum polling, LucidTalk Managing Director Bill White said 'This is a very accurate polling performance. We have been running regular monthly NI EU Referendum Tracker polls with our NI representative Opinion Panel since last December, and we recorded the steady trend towards Leave in all our polls since January. Not to the extent that Leave were ever going to win in Northern Ireland, but all our monthly polls tracked the trends accurately and steadied at around 56-57% Remain (excluding undecideds) in both our May and mid-June polls i.e. our last two polls before the actual referendum'.

Bill White added 'This proves that our established NI Opinion Panel which we regularly use for our online polling, is now the gold standard for accurately ascertaining NI opinion. In addition, it's been proved from the national UK Referendum result that robust, professional, and targeted online polling, is going to be the general gold standard for polling in the future. Remember the majority of the national UK online polls consistently predicted a Brexit, albeit within the context of a close result - and the UK result was close'.

LUCIDTALK NI OPINION PANEL - UK EU REFERENDUM EXIT POLL
- WE WANT TO KNOW HOW YOU VOTED AND WHY?

LucidTalk will be running a Northern Ireland (NI) EU REFERENDUM EXIT POLL on Thursday (23rd June - EU Referendum Day) - recording how our NI Representative Opinion Panel have actually voted on the day. The EXIT POLL will run from 10am to 9.45pm this Thursday 23rd June 2016.

If you do join our Opinion Panel and take our EXIT POLL on Thursday, we would ask you not to take the poll until you have voted yourself - WE WANT TO KNOW YOUR DECISION AND VIEWS AFTER YOU'VE VOTED, NOT BEFORE!

The aim of this poll is to research how you actually ended up voting at the EU Referendum on 23rd June. This is to help us test the accuracy of our Pre-EU Referendum Tracker polls, ascertain demographic patterns, and improve our systems for future projects.

LUCIDTALK EU REFERENDUM TRACKER POLLS - Mid-June 2016:

LucidTalk are running, and have been running, monthly Northern Ireland (NI) Opinion Panel 'Tracker Polls' during the build-up to the May NI Assembly election (now past), and EU referendum in June. We present here our last Pre-EU Referendum NI-Wide Tracker poll results and report before the UK EU Referendum on 23rd June

The polls are regular 'Monthly Tracker' polls of the established LT Northern Ireland Opinion Panel (now nearly 2.200 members). The LucidTalk Opinion Panel consists of Northern Ireland residents (age 18+) and is balanced by gender, age-group, area of residence, and community background, in order to be demographically representative of Northern Ireland.

The objective of these scheduled and regular monthly 'Tracker' polls is to research opinion on key issues at key points in time during this critical pre-election period + track changes in trends and opinions about key topics and issues on a monthly basis. These key issues include: Political Party popularity, Party Leader ratings, Key election issues, and EU referendum opinion.

For this 'June Tracker' poll-project our now 2,167 member NI-Wide and representative Opinion Panel was targeted, and invited to participate, and 1,075 full responses were recorded in terms of the final results.

Methodology:

Polling was carried out by Belfast based polling and market research company LucidTalk. The project was carried out online for a period of 60 Hours from 10am 15th June to 10pm 17th June 2016 (60 Hours). The project targeted the established LucidTalk NI-Wide Opinion Panel (2,167 members) which is  balanced by gender, age-group, area of residence, and community background, in order to be demographically representative of Northern Ireland. 1,408 full responses were received, and a data auditing process was carried out to ensure all completed poll-surveys were genuine 'one-person, one-vote' responses, and also to ensure a robust NI representative sample of opinion. This resulted in 1,075 responses being considered in terms of the final results, and that the 1,075 responses received and used was demographically representative of Northern Ireland.
